Israeli Ambassador accredited in Turkmenistan
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Turkmenistan, Shemi Tzur, presented his credentials to President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. The Israeli Ambassador conveyed a message from President of Israel Shimon Peres to President Berdymukhamedov, in which the Israeli President expressed “deep interest in establishing a full-scale Turkmen-Israeli dialogue.” The President of Turkmenistan was also invited to visit Israel at any convenient time.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Visits Turkmenistan
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, Algirdas Butkevičius, who arrived in Turkmenistan on an official visit. The talks between the Turkmen President and the Lithuanian Prime Minister covered issues of bilateral cooperation. Government delegations from both countries held talks in Ashgabat, resulting in the signing of a number of bilateral documents, including the Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Tax Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income and Capital; the Agreement on Economic Cooperation; and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Crafts of Lithuania. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania took part in the Turkmen-Lithuanian Business Forum.

President of Turkmenistan receives Chairman and Founder of Crans Montana Forum
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov received Jean-Paul Carteron, Chairman and Founder of the Crans Montana Forum (Switzerland), which seeks cooperation with Turkmenistan. The Board of the Council on World Public Affairs of the Crans Montana Forum awarded President Berdymukhamedov with the Forum’s gold medal for his outstanding contribution and efforts to strengthening international cooperation.
The Crans Montana Forum is a Swiss owned and managed international organization established in 1986 that promotes international political, economic, and humanitarian.

Turkmen Foreign Ministry Hosts Turkmen-Uzbek Talks on Consular Issues
Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting with an Uzbek delegation headed by the Deputy Head of the Consular Department of Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry, Dilshod Parpiev to discuss improving bilateral agreements and consular services.

The XVI Conference of the Humanitarian Association of the World Turkmen will take place in Ashgabat on October 24, 2013. According to the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan, it will be convened “with the aim to further enhance the unity and friendly relations of the world Turkmens as well as to create opportunities for participation in festive events arranged on the occasion of the 22d anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan.” The President instructed the heads of the Association to compose a list of guests who will be invited to this event.

Turkmen and Uzbek Representatives Appointed UN General Assembly Session Vice-chairman
The Permanent Representatives of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to the United Nations were appointed deputy chairmen of the 68th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, which is scheduled to open in September, the UN News Service reported. Together with other representatives of regional groups, they will chair the meetings of the General Assembly in the absence of the Chairman of the session, John Ashe from Antigua and Barbuda. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov "congratulated the Turkmen people with the good news that had come from New York (USA), where the headquarters of the United Nations is located."
