President of Turkmenistan Reshuffles Heads of Ministries
President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov made a number of appointments at a government meeting discussing the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan over the next six months. The Head of State dismissed the Chairman of the Turkmenavtoyollary State Concern (for roads) Perhat Meredov; the Minister of Construction Dzhumageldi Bayramov; the Chairman of the Turkmennebit State Concern (for oil) Annaguly Deryaev; the Chairman of the Turkmengeologia State Corporation Tore Yagshimyradov; and the Chairman of the State Committee for Fisheries Allaberdi Hodzhaberdiev.
The President of Turkmenistan signed decrees appointing Dadebay Amangeldiev as Chairman of the Turkmenavtoyollary State Concern; Batyr Ereshov as Minister of Construction of Turkmenistan; Redzhep GeldiIlamanov as Chairman of the Turkmennebit State Concern; Atadurdy Berdiniyazov as Chairman of the Turkmengologiya State Corporation; and Dovran Hodzhamyradov as Chairman of the State Committee for Fisheries.

New Biometric Passports Become Effective in Turkmenistan
As of July 10, Turkmen citizens must carry and display new biometric passports to exit or enter Turkmenistan and all old passports are no longer valid. These changes should not affect the nearly 43,000 people with dual Turkmen – Russian citizenship, whose right to receive new passports was confirmed on June 17th. To date, more than 6,000 dual citizens have received the new passports.

Turkmenistan to raise salaries of teachers of secondary schools as of 1 September 2013
President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov signed a decree, raising the salaries of teachers of secondary schools by 10% as of September 1st.

Turkmenistan to increase salaries, pensions, state benefits and scholarships as of 1 January 2014
As of January 1, 2014, the salaries, pensions, and state benefits of employees of state budget-financed organizations, self-supporting enterprises and public associations , as well as the scholarships of students and trainees, will get a 10% increase.

Turkmen Sports Champions Receive $10.000 for Victory
On July 7, Turkmenistan held a congratulatory ceremony for the Turkmen sportsmen who won medals at the Indoor and Martial Arts Games recently held in South Korea. Two Turkmen sportsmen who won gold medals received $10,000 each, four winners of silver medals received $5000 each, and one winner of a bronze medal received $3000. Thus, in total, $43,000 was allocated from the Presidential Charitable Fund for the medal-winners of the Games. It should be noted that President Berdymukhamedov awarded himself with $11 million when he “won” the recent horse races (and fell off the horse at the end).
