Turkmen President Receives India's Oil and Gas Minister
India's Oil and Gas Minister, Marpadi Virappa Moili, came to Ashgabat to participate in a regular meeting of the Steering Committee of the Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India (TAPI) project and met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. The Indian Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Sunil Jain, also participated in the meeting.

Turkmen President Receives Pakistan's Oil and Gas Minister
Pakistan's Minister of Oil and Natural Resources, Jam Khamal Khan, came to Ashgabat to participate in a regular meeting of the Steering Committee of the Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India (TAPI) project and met with President Berdymukhamedov. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Tasaddook Khussain, also participated in the meeting.

TAPI Steering Committee holds meeting in Ashgabat
The Steering Committee of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project (TAPI) held its 17th meeting in Ashgabat, bringing together leaders and representatives of ministries and departments of all the participating countries, as well as from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). An agreement between Turkmengaz State Concern and the Afghan Gas Corporation on the sale and purchase of natural gas was signed prior to the meeting. With all agreements on the sale and purchase of natural gas now signed, the second phase of implementation of the TAPI project has been completed.
It is expected that the total length of the pipeline will be 1,735 km, including 200 km in Turkmenistan, 735 km in Afghanistan, and 800 km in Pakistan, terminating at the Fazilka border point with India. The annual capacity of the pipeline will be 33 billion cubic meters.

Afghanistan signs 30-year gas pipeline deal
The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the signing of a 30-year deal with the Turkmen government for the TAPI pipeline, Afghanistan's online Khaama Press reports. Afghanistan will receive 17.6 billion cubic feet of natural gas per year during the first 10 years of the pipeline's operation. Its allocation from the pipeline is expected to increase gradually to 52 billion cubic feet per year in the following decades.

Head of Regional Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross holds meeting at Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan
The Head of the Regional Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for Central Asia, Yves Arnold, held a meeting at the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan to discuss cooperation, prospects of joint work in implementing international humanitarian laws, and development partnership with Turkmenistan’s academic institutions.

USAID Updates Turkmen Government Officials on International Commercial Arbitration
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Macroeconomic Project, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, hosted an advanced-level seminar on International Commercial Arbitration from July 9-12, 2013 at the President Hotel in Ashgabat. The four-day seminar aimed to provide representatives from various government institutions, including ministries, state-owned enterprises, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Supreme Court, and academia, with a comprehensive update on arbitration, mediation, and international contracting practices. Experts conducted presentations on the key international arbitration institutions, their procedures and areas of specialization, and also the enforcement of arbitration awards.

OSCE Centre Presents Commentary on Turkmenistan’s Criminal Code
An article-by-article commentary on the Criminal Code of Turkmenistan was presented at an OSCE-organized roundtable in Ashgabat July 15. The OSCE Centre in Ashgabat organized the roundtable meeting to discuss the commentary to the current Criminal Code with Turkmenistan’s legislators, law-enforcement officers, the judiciary and legal practitioners, as well as law teachers and researchers.
