The Avaza tourist resort on the Caspian launched the opening of four new luxury hotels and a flagpole with the national flag of Turkmenistan. The giant flag measures 20 meters in width and 30 meters in length.

Pilgrims From Turkmenistan Leave for Saudi Arabia to Perform Hajj
Pilgrims from Turkmenistan traveled on a special charter flight to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Turkmenhowayollary, the state airlines, arranged the charter in accordance with the decree of the President of Turkmenistan. On the eve of Kurban Bayram, one of the most important Muslim festivals, 188 Turkmen pilgrims from all the regions of the country will join millions of pilgrims from all over the world in Mecca and Medina.

New Administrative Code Decriminalizes Certain Acts
According to the new Code of Administrative Offences due to come into effect in Turkmenistan on January 1, 2014, certain acts previously considered as crimes will now be regarded as administrative infringements. They include assault, unintentional infliction of mild injuries, slander, and others. The code also expands state powers in regards to administrative violations to include administrative detention, personal search, and the inspection of personal belongings, vehicles, facilities, goods, other property or documents belonging to a legal entity, its representative office, business units or a person involved in entrepreneurial activity without legal permission.
