Astana, 10 September: Kazakhstan is suspending launches of Proton booster rockets of all types from the Baykonur cosmodrome, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Umirzak Shukeyev has said.
"The prime minister is to sign the directive today. First, pending an investigation into the reasons behind the crash of a Proton-M booster rocket launched from Baykonur on 6 September, pending a conclusion by the government commission for investigating the crash and assessing its aftermath, and pending the signing of a joint protocol with the Russian side, launches of the Proton booster rockets of all types will be suspended," Shukeyev said at a session of a select [committee of] government members in Astana today.
