Dashoguz Residents Forced to Paint Homes Green and Cut Trees
Residents of homes located along the highway leading from Dashoguz airport to the city are being forced to paint their homes white and green at their own expense in anticipation of the President’s visit on March 28. Representatives of local authorities regularly give such orders, but due to constant winds in the area bringing tons of dust, the buildings quickly become grey again. The authorities also regularly make the residents cut trees and bushes, and the bare land produces even more dust. Currently, people are being forced to cut all plants along the road from the airport to the city and all around the airport itself. All schoolchildren and students, who are supposed to be on their spring break now, are busy rehearsing for concerts that the local authorities are planning for the President’s visit.
