ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER COMMENTS ON U.S. SANCTIONS, KARABAKH PEACE
PROCESS

Speaking on 31 May at a press conference in Yerevan, Vartan
Oskanian said the Armenian leadership is continuing a dialogue with
the United States over the sanctions imposed last month on the Lizin
chemical plant for selling dual-purpose technology to Iran, RFE/RL's
Yerevan bureau reported (see "RFE/RL Newsline," 10 and 17 May 2002).
The plant's owners have denied the charges. Oskanian also said both
Armenia and Azerbaijan are satisfied with the Karabakh mediation
activities of the OSCE Minsk Group and are not searching for an
alternative mediator. LF
