ARMENIAN LOCAL OFFICIALS ORDERED TO REVISE VOTER LISTS. The Armenian
government ordered local administration heads on 21 June to correct
and update lists of voters in the run-up to local elections scheduled
for October and presidential and parliamentary elections due next
year, RFE/RL's Yerevan bureau reported. Losing candidates in recent
by-elections have protested that district officials permitted the
manipulation of voter lists to secure the victory of their preferred
candidates. Central Election Commission Chairman Artak Sahradian said
his commission will check the updated lists in two months. LF
