/14:58 27.06.2002/ USA to assist struggle against drug trafficking in Caucasus
Tbilisi, June 27, 2002. (CNA). The USA is ready to render assistance in combating
drug trafficking and drug addiction in the Caucasus, the Black Sea Press agency
reported, referring to an official of the US Health Care department, who spoke at a
closed international conference 'Caucasus without drugs'. He noted that the USA
welcomed efforts to combat drug problems and stressed the importance of joint
actions, demonstrated by this conference.

of Azeri Embassy in Ankara
Baku, June 26, 2002. (CNA). The Turkish president Ahmet Necdet Sezer and
Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev took part in the openiong ceremony of new
building of the Azerbaijani embassy in Oran district of Ankara.
"I believe that the bilateral relations will further diversify and strengthen by
the opening of the new embassy," Sezer said adding that ambassadors have a great
role in improvement of the bilateral relations.

/14:44 27.06.2002/ Armenia to join WTO by end of 2002
Yerevan, June 26, 2002. (CNA). The trade and economic development Ministry has sent
to the World Trade Organization (WTO) member a 400-page document entiteled
"Timetable for Consolidation of Goods and Service Tariffs" required doe Armenia's
formal accession to the WTO.
CNA was informed in the ministry that the document will possibly discussed at the
nearest session of the WTO member countries to be held in 4-6 weeks. After
discussions the final phase of negotiations on Armenia's accession will be carried
out.
A wide range of issues will be touched upon during the final phase.
The Deputy minister Tigran Davtian said Armenia would formally join WTO by the end
of the year.

/14:37 27.06.2002/ PACE discusses refugee and IDPs problems in Caucasus
Tbilisi, June 27, 2002. (CNA). Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE)
discusses problems refugees and displaced persons in Armenia, Azerbaijan and
Georgia face.
Civil Georgia reports that Ruth-Gaby Vermot-Mangold of Committee on Migration,
Refugees and Demography makes the report on the issue. "Many of refugees and IDPs
live in refugee camps in full dependence on insufficient humanitarian assistance
with no prospects for the future," the report states. According to the report the
conflicts, in the beginning perceived as short-term, remain unsettled until today.
"In this context, the Assembly welcomes the efforts of Georgia to find a peaceful
solution to the conflict in Abkhazia".
