ARMENIAN NUCLEAR-POWER PLANT SHUTS DOWN
The Medzamor nuclear-power station experienced an automatic emergency shut-down on 4 April due to major voltage fluctuations on a power line to Iran, Interfax and RFE/RL's Yerevan bureau reported. The plant was due to shut down for refueling on 15 April and will not be restarted before that date. Despite a fall in the amount of natural gas imported from Russia to fuel conventional power stations, Armenia is unlikely to have to resort to electricity rationing, Energy Ministry officials said.
