Georgian President doesn’t consider himself poor man with salary less USD 200
monthly
Tbilisi, January 22, 2002. (CNA). The Georgian President Edward Shevardnadze
receives a USD 190 salary monthly, however he doesn’t consider himself a poor
man, Shevardnadze told Statistics Service agents during the general census in
Georgia. Although this information is of private character, the National TV showed
fragment of this conversation. Filling in the questionnaire the President said his
monthly salary amounts at 400 laries (USD 190), but he doesn’t consider this
sum small, as "he doesn’t bear much expenses and lives quite economically."
At the same time he doesn’t consider himself a poor man as recently won
several foreign prizes and received good royalties from publishing his
autobiographic book - My Choice. -OK-

On staff changes in Gazprom company
Moscow, January 22, 2002. (CNA). The Caspian News Agency received today a press
release from Gazprom company, which reads, "The Chairman of Gazprom open jsc Alexey
Miller signed on January 21 a decree on the appointment. Komarov Yuriy
Aleksandrovich is appointed Deputy Chairman of the company.
Komarov graduated from the Moscow Energy Institute and later All-Union Foreign
Trade Academy. In 1996-1998 he was Director General of Gazprom filial - Gazexport
foreign economic enterprise. Since 1998 till present moment - head of foreign
relations department. Komarov will take up issues of company’s foreign
economic activity. -OK-
