Text of report by Azerbaijani news agency Media-Press
Baku, 4 February: "Azerbaijan has started drafting the country's export
strategy, which will envisage multiple options for oil transportation,"
the president of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic,
Natiq Aliyev, has told reporters.
At present Azerbaijani oil is delivered to world markets via the
Baku-Novorossiysk and the Baku-Supsa oil pipelines. The tariffs for
pumping one tonne of oil along these routes are 15.67 and 2.7 dollars
respectively.
Speaking about oil export via the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline, Natiq
Aliyev said that Azerbaijan planned to review the volume of oil pumped
along this route. This year 2.5m t of oil will be pumped along this
route and an application for the export of this amount in 2005 has
already been submitted.
