Kazakh oil, gas output up in first half of 2003
Almaty, 13 July: Kazakhstan extracted 22,062,000 tonnes of crude oil and
2,954,700 tonnes of gas condensate in the first half of 2003, and
increased output by 11 per cent and 19 per cent correspondingly year on
year, the Interfax-Kazakhstan news agency has learnt from the Kazakh
Statistics Agency.
In addition, the country extracted 3,323.5m cu.m. of natural gas in a
gaseous state (up by 11 per cent) in the given period. The marketable
output of natural gas was 3,260.6m cu.m. (also up by 11 per cent), the
Statistics Agency said.
[Interfax-Kazakhstan reported at 0810 on 11 July that Kazakhstan
exported had 16,960,200 tonnes of oil and gas condensate, an 11-per-cent
increase, in January-May 2003. The country earned 2,711.6m dollars from
oil and gas condensate exports, a 71-per-cent increase. Kazakhstan spent
125.9m dollars (up by 9 per cent) on importing 4,101.5m cu.m. of natural
gas (up by 7 per
cent) in January-May 2003, the news agency said.]
