Kazakh citizens blamed for Uzbek suicide bombings

Tashkent, 22 November: The identities of the suicide bombers who carried
out terrorist attacks in Tashkent on 30 July have been established, the
head of the press service of the Uzbek Prosecutor-General's Office,
Svetlana Ortiqova, told the Interfax news agency on Monday [22
November].
Terrorists committed suicide bombings near the Uzbek
Prosecutor-General's Office and the US and Israeli embassies in Tashkent
on 30 July. Apart from the terrorists, the explosions killed four
security staff at these sites, including staff from the Uzbek Interior
Ministry and National Security Service, and wounded seven people.
Ortiqova said that all three terrorists had proved to be Kazakh
citizens. Avazkhan Shayusupov, born in 1966, carried out the explosion
in the foyer of the Uzbek Prosecutor-General's Office, Mavlon Valiyev,
1976, at the Israeli embassy, Dulat Iskakov, 1972, at the US embassy in
Tashkent.
Ortiqova noted that the identities of all three terrorists had been
established following a joint investigation by the Uzbek and Kazakh
law-enforcement bodies.
The Uzbek Prosecutor-General's Office spokeswoman said "the DNA forensic
test confirmed the identities of the criminals too".
