New posts will be installed on the Osh-Bishkek road
The Minister of Interior of Russia, Boris Gryzlov, told journalists on November 13
in Bishkek, that Russia will help Kyrgyzstan to install additional police post on
Osh-Bishkek road. According to Mr. Gryzlov, the decision was made in summer during
the meeting of lawenforcement organs of Russia, Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, and
Tajikistan, in order to put barrier to drug traffickers.
The KCHR thinks this is an action of intervention of Russia into the internal
affairs of Kyrgyzstan. We believe that "barrier to drug traffickers" is just a
rhetorical declaration, which will be used to violate freedom of movement and
expression, since it is the very road that connects the south of Kyrgyzstan and
where people express their discontent with the policies of the current regime of
Akaev.
