U.S. LIFTS RESTRICTIONS ON DEFENSE COOPERATION WITH
TAJIKISTAN. U.S. State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said in
Washington on 9 January that restrictions imposed in 1993 on the
transfer of military equipment to Tajikistan have been lifted due to
that country's close cooperation with the international antiterrorism
