TREATY BETWEEN CENTRAL ASIAN STATES WILL AID ANTI-TERRORISM EFFORT -
UZBEK PRESIDENT
TASHKENT. April 21 (Interfax) - The treaty concluded by the Central
Asian states on resisting terrorism will help them take adequate
measures on neutralizing and putting down threats posed by terrorism and
extremism, Uzbek President Islam Karimov said at a Friday press
conference on the results of the meeting between the presidents of
Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
The treaty on the states' joint actions against terrorism,
political and religious extremism, transnational organized crime and
other threats to their stability and security "has great practical
value" since it enables them to pool their resources and take speedy
measures against the menaces of terrorism and extremism, Karimov said.
