KYRGYZ PLANES BOMB REBEL FORMATION
BISHKEK. Aug 14 (Interfax) - An air strike has been delivered onto
a rebel formation in Kyrgyzstan's Batken region, military sources in
Bishkek told Interfax on Monday.
They said government troops, as a result of active operations, have
sealed off the units of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan in mountain
gorges bordering on Tajikistan.
The military has described the situation in the south of Kyrgyzstan as
rather complicated. At least 700 rebels have concentrated in the border
districts of Tajikistan ready to break into Kyrgyzstan, they said.
