PUTIN EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER CENTRAL ASIAN FIGHTING
Russian President Vladimir Putin told journalists in Sochi on 16
August that the fighting in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan is a
cause of concern to Moscow. Putin again discussed the
situation with Tajik President Imomali Rakhmonov. Also on 16 August, Putin
telephoned Uzbek President Karimov and offered to cooperate
to restore regional stability, Interfax reported. LF
