SPORADIC CLASHES CONTINUE IN SOUTHERN KYRGYZSTAN
Kyrgyz government troops and Islamic militants continue to clash on
the border between Kyrgyzstan's Osh Oblast and Tajikistan,
RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reported on 21 August, citing the
Defense Ministry. A Kyrgyz military commander in Osh told
RFE/RL that numerous groups of 10-15 militants are deployed
on the Tajik side of the border. No further casualties have
