ADB TO FUND UZBEK RAILWAYS MODERNIZATION
The Asian Development Bank has approved a $70 million loan to
Uzbekistan to finance the modernization of the 341-kilometer
rail link between the cities of Samarkand and Bukhara,
Interfax reported on 1 November. The bank had provided a
similar $70 million loan two years ago for modernization of
the railroad sector linking the Kazakh town of Chingeldy and
Samarkand. LF
