Turkmenistan plans to remove dependence of economy on fuel and raw materials
At a meeting of the Elder’s council in Turkmenbashi,President Berdymukhamedov said that, “the main goal of modernizing the Turkmen economy is to eliminate its dependence on energy resources,” and that he seeks to develop Turkmenistan’s industrial sector.
Burnishing its reputation as hermetically isolated, Turkmenistan continues to raise its visibility in the international arena, receiving foreign dignitaries, hosting international conferences, and sending representatives to events abroad.
Some 160 promising Oil and Gas Fields Discovered in Turkmenistan
Over 160 promising oil and gas fields, 60 of which are currently being developed, have been discovered in Turkmenistan, the representatives of the national fuel and energy complex said at an investment forum in Ashgabat.

Head of State Service of Maritime and River Transport fired
President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov fired the head of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan, Meylis Mutdikov for shortcomings in his work. The President appointed Rustam Kutlyev as acting head of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport.
