A judicial ruling in Georgia seems certain to turn up the heat on a long-simmering political confrontation.
This story was updated at 3AM EST, October 3. Stunning parliamentary election results are sending Georgia into uncharted territory for a post-Soviet state: two relatively equally balanced political forces now must learn the art of legislative give-and-take.
The Georgian government takes pride in having implemented reforms that have turned the country into one of the most business-friendly environments in the world.
They come with whistles, signs and burning brooms. They stage hunger strikes or create rap videos and root for “the system” to collapse.
