File this video of President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov crooning what he claims to be his own original tune, "For You, My White Flower" in your Youtube list of dueling mash-ups like Lady Gaga vs. Madonna.
Hat-tip to Bruce Pannier of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's blog Chaikhana for not only discovering this extraordinary performance by Berdymukhamedov, but also digging up the video of Turkmen performer Dovlet Amanlykov, singing a song in 2009 "On My Wedding Day" that sounds awfully similar.
Not only will you want to scrutinize the pair of clips for possible plagiarism by the Protector, as the Turkmen dictator is known by his fans -- you will undoubtedly be mesmerized by his dizzying scramble between accordion and guitar, and his dazzling chartreuse cardigan.
And then there's the audience -- that's the creepiest part. Some of the women seem to be swooning as if listening to a born-again Elvis, while the bored apparatchiks' off-beat clapping probably cost some of them strict reprimands later.
The occasion was Berdymukhamedov's birthday, where Ostalgie acts like Boney M appeared to remind him of his Soviet youth.
