President of Turkmenistan Receives EBRD Delegation
President Berdymukhamedov met with Werner Gruber, member of the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and Director for Switzerland, Ukraine, Liechtenstein, Turkmenistan, Montenegro, Serbia, and Moldova. The head of the EBRD office in Turkmenistan, Alkis Drakinos, also attended the meeting, which focused on the prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EBRD, as part of the ongoing reforms in Turkmenistan’s banking sector.

UNDP Representative Holds Talks at Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry
Jannick Glemarek, Executive Coordinator of the Office of the Multi-Partner Trust Fund of the United Nations Development Programme, met with members of Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss establishing a national climate fund as part of the National Strategy of Turkmenistan on Climate Change as well as UNDP assistance on environmental issues.

Turkmen-Japanese Political Consultations Held in Ashgabat
Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry hosted Turkmen-Japanese political consultations. The Deputy Director-General of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Special Envoy for Central Asia, Hikihara Takeshi, headed the Japanese delegation for discussions on bilateral cooperation and on preparation for President Berdymukhamedov’s upcoming official visit to Japan.

Chinese President to visit Turkmenistan
Chinese President Xi Jinping said he is looking forward to his upcoming meeting with President Berdymukhamedov in Ashgabat “to jointly plan and further promote the comprehensive cooperation between China and Turkmenistan, and thus open up broader prospects of interstate cooperation for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.” At present, China ranks first in the total foreign trade turnover of Turkmenistan, and the range of exported and imported goods continues to expand. The dates of the visit are not yet specified.
